Amid the global shift towards environmental sustainability, this International Youth Weekresonates with a vibrant celebration of our youth partners through the r-u-NbS Project. Together, we applaud their unwavering commitment to combating the far-reaching repercussions of climate change using innovative nature-based solutions. Through this project, these youth have not only harnessed green skills but also embraced a holistic understanding encompassing knowledge, abilities, values, and attitudes, all of which serve as the compass guiding them toward a future of sustainable and resource-efficient living. As the worldmoves towards a green transition, the significance of transitioning to an environmentally sustainable and climate-friendly sphere cannot be emphasized enough. This transition not only stands as a resolute response to the urgent global climate crisis but also assumes the role of a pivotal pillar supporting the attainment of Sustainable Development Goals. In the specific context of sub-Saharan Africa, where the imminent and harsh impacts of climate change on informal settlements loom large, the need for swift action becomes glaringly apparent. In response to this clarion call, nature-based solutions (NbS) rise as indispensable tools, adept at aiding in the adaptation to this shifting climate landscape while concurrently unleashing commendable social and ecological benefits.Today, on Youth Day, we pay tribute to these powerful partnerships and commendable shifts, serving as a poignant reminder of the dynamic and passionate engagement of the youth in steering our world towards a distinctly greener and more sustainable horizon. According the UK's National Planning Policy Framework (2021) three overarching objectives of sustainable development are as follows: 1.Economic objective: contributing tobuilding a strong economy (Developmentareas- right type and location)2. Social objective: supporting communitiesand housing (Access to supportingfacilities and services)3. Environmental objective: to protect andenhance the natural, built and historicenvironment (Low carbon economy, improving biodiversity, minimisation ofwaste and pollution. Acknowledgementof the 17 Global Goals for SustainableDevelopment in the period up to 2030)With this in mind we in Antigua need to set clear and enforced objectives with our planning policies and objectives island wide. We cannot keep doing the same adhoc way of development that does not give care to sustainable development and how it impacts the people they will be around. Public consultation is important for any major development and gives people a sense being involved and having their voices heard

📢 We are excited to announce that Phase 2 of our Peer Research Project is now underway. This research will look at the barriers young people in Wales face when trying to live a sustainable life. 🌍 Earlier this year, we brought together a group of 12 young people to train them to become peer researchers and to explore the topic of climate change. They worked together with Children in Wales staff and a research methods consultant to develop a plan for this project. The young people decided they wanted to do a survey and some focus groups to understand what stops young people from living a sustainable life. Based on the great work the young people completed in Phase 1, we will now be supporting the group to conduct this research.📝 This project is funded by theCommunity Knowledge Fundwho are supporting us to deliver the plans we worked on in Phase 1. If you would like to find out more about this work, please get in touch!💻 https://lnkd.in/d9SEw8Cw --------------------------------------------------------------------📢 Rydym yn falch o gyhoeddi bod Cam 2 o’n prosiect ymchwil cyfoedion bellach ar waith. Bydd yr ymchwil hwn yn edrych ar y rhwystrau y mae pobl ifanc yng Nghymru yn eu hwynebu wrth geisio byw bywyd cynaliadwy. 🌍 Yn gynharach eleni, daethom â grŵp o 12 o bobl ifanc ynghyd i’w hyfforddi i ddod yn ymchwilwyr cyfoedion ac archwilio’r pwnc newid yn yr hinsawdd. Cydweithion nhw gyda staff Plant yng Nghrymu ac ymgynghorydd dulliau ymchwilio i ddatblygu cynllun ar gyfer y prosiect hwn. Penderfynodd y bobl ifanc eu bod am wneud arolwg a rhai grwpiau ffocws i ddeall beth sy'n atal pobl ifanc rhag byw bywyd cynaliadwy. Yn seiliedig ar y gwaith gwych a gwblhawyd gan y bobl ifanc yn ystod cam 1, byddwn nawr yn cefnogi’r grŵp i gynnal yr ymchwil hwn.📝 Caiff y prosiect hwn ei ariannu ganCommunity Knowledge Fund sy’n ein cefnogi i gyflawni’r cynlluniau y buom yn gweithio arnynt yng Ngham 1. Os hoffech chi ddysgu mwy am y gwaith yma, mae croeso i chi gysylltu!💻 https://lnkd.in/d-vr2b8c
