Business owners allow the front desk and office managers the autonomy to make important business decisions. This is why they're commonly referred to as "gate keepers."Business owners, how confident are you that your customer facing team members are making the right decisions for the business? Could your medical practice/business be more profitable, modernized, or operationally efficient if more sales reps/consultants had the opportunity to meet with you?I understand there is a fine balance between seeing patients and meeting with reps. I pose the question to my network. Are there ways to managing this balance without missing out on new opportunities? Please post suggestions below. Healthcare customer service is at its lowest point, and I am writing from my own experience, as fresh as from recently. I will keep provider name and place anonymous because of ongoing patient and provider relationship. First of all, healthcare is the least surveyed industry compared to others, but we have all these fancy Net promoter score, CHAPS/HOS, which I used to promote on my physician oversight, and now that I am in the receiving side, honestly, I have zero faith on those as true metrics. I was way before my appointment time to avoid getting physician late to see me, and check in surprisingly quick, but not clear even to me when I have had over three decades of experience. Inside office there were both nonfunctioning rest room, even when that is fundamental to this specialty. MA was surprisingly nice in interactions but took my BP in accurately. When it passed one hour from my appoint time, I had to remind MA how long I have been waiting. I was told I am next, which I expected since I was room in (surprisingly on time). From MA's answer I thought it's normal practice to wait, and why I am even questioning. Finally, my specialist came in exactly 75 minutes after my scheduled appointment time. This appointment to established with this physician as my previous specialist joined hospital-based practice from solo and took along with added office dysfunction. We talk about 'corporatization' of medicine, mainly primary care, but it's also happening in specialist. Your guess is as good as mine, must be 'financial' almost in all cases. I wasn't sure what level contractually billed without laying single finger on my examination. I was ready to have per rectal examination least, even though how discomforting. I got used to that from my previous specialist (maybe he knew myself as a physician). Best was the last part when another MA to check me out. She wasn't seeming happy to be there as almost end of the day, moreover, told me to go hospital owned lab to do my routine specialist lab (I am not sure whether United Health care aware of their in network contracted provider doing) prior to my next follow up, even when I suggested UHG preferred lab vendor I trust. Last MA wasn't. ready to hear anything from me (didn't even ask), rather she wanted to tell me. I thought health care should employ robots, who can do better job and save money than these tech-based employment's, which is now every step of the delivery. It took me total of almost two hours from in and out, of that five-minute real person to person touch, that's physician I really needed.I believe all network providers should have survey (customer focus) from their payor against a metrics other industry has for their future contract and rate. As providers expect their patients to show up on time, it's prudent that provider provide the same. If they failed to provide, financial penalty tied to their performance. Isn't health care all about 'finance', little about care and compassion?

Navigating something like #openenrollment can sometimes feel like an overwhelming task. But with an open enrollment communication strategy and outline in place, you can streamline the process this year (and beyond) to make it a smoother experience for you and your employees. Here are three recommendations:1.) Choose the Right Channels:We like to start with email and cross-post to the other channels our team uses most (intranet, Teams/Slack, digital signage, and SMS).2.) Craft Effective Messages! We suggest including:Benefits overview 📊Changes to benefit plans 🔄Step-by-step instructions 📝Key dates and deadlines ⏰Educational resources 📚3.) Frequency of Communication (Timing is key! We’ve found that the following cadence works well):Detailed info (2 weeks before open enrollment) 🗓️Open enrollment kickoff (first day) 🚀Midway reminder (halfway through) 📢Deadline reminder (a few days before open enrollment closes) 🚨PS -- if you're looking for a couple of sample open enrollment email templates, we've dropped a link to a few in the comments!#internalcomms
