From Better Homes and Gardens

3 1/4 cups milk
5 eggs beaten
1 16 ox. Can chocolate flavored syrup (1 ½ cups)
1/4 cup packed brown sugar
2 tsp. vanilla
8 to 10 oz French bread, cut into 1 inch cubes (about 8 cups)
3 oz semisweet chocolate coarsely chopped
3 oz. White chocolate or white baking bar, coarsely chopped
1 recipe bourbon chocolate sauce

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a large mixing bowl stir together milk, eggs, syrup, brown sugar, vanilla. Spread bread cubes in an ungreased 3 quart rectangular baking dish. Sprinkle with chopped semisweet and white chocolate.
Pour egg mixture evenly over bread. Bake uncovered for 50 55 minutes or until pudding is puffy and knife inserted near center comes out clean. Cool slightly ( pudding will fall in center). Drizzle with warm Bourbon Chocolate Sauce. Makes 12 servings.
Bourbon Chocolate Sauce: In a heavy saucepan stir 4 ounces chopped semisweet chocolate over low heat just until melted. Stir in 2/3 cup whipping cream and ¼ cup sugar.
Cook and stir over medium heat for 5 to 6 minutes or just until mixture begins to boil. Remove from heat; whisk until smooth. Stir in 2 to 3 tablespoons bourbon, if desired. Cool slightly before serving.

1/2 pound graham crackers into crumbs
1 (14-ounce) package marshmallows
1 cup milk
1 cup whipping cream
1 medium can crushed pineapple (drained)

Heat milk, add marshmallows and dissolve. Cool in refrigerator until thoroughly chilled. Whip cream and add to mixture. Put in casserole dish in layers: graham cracker crumbs, pineapple and whipped cream until all is used. Sprinkle graham cracker crumbs on top. Chill additional hour. Delicious

A favorite from my childhood

1 c flour
2 t baking powder
3/4 c sugar
2 T cocoa
1/2 c milk
1 t vanilla
2 T shortening, melted
1/2 c nutmeats

Sift together dry ingredients. Add milk, vanilla and shortening; mix until smooth. Add nuts. Pour and spread into grease 8-inch square or round cake pan.

Topping
1 c brown sugar
1/4 c cocoa
1 3/4 c hot water

Mix sugar and cocoa. Sprinkle all of it over batter in pan. CAREFULLY pour hot water over entire batter. Bake at 350 degrees 40-45 minutes.
The pudding, when done, looks like a cake, but has a thick sauce underneath. Best warm, but good cold, too.

3 1/2 c pared diced apples
1 1/2 c crushed corn flakes
2 T margarine
1/2 c sugar
1 t cinnamon
1/8 t nutmeg

Grease baking dish. Layer 1 c apples, 1/2 c corn flakes, 1/3 c sugar mixture, /dot with 1/3 margarine. Make 2 more layers. Sprinkle top with flakes. Add, dribbling evenly, 3/4 c water. Bake 45 minutes at 350-375 degrees. Serve with hard sauce.

1 to 1 1/4 lb. Pumpkin
31/4 cup milk
1 1/2 cups dairy eggnog
5 eggs, beaten
3/4 cup packed born sugar
2 tsp vanilla
1 1/2 tsp pumpkin pie spice
1/3 cup golden raisins
8 to 10 oz French bread, cut into
1 inch cubes (8 cups)
1 recipe Warm Caramel Sauce

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Cut pumpkin into quarters; remove seeds. Discard seeds
Or save for roasting. Place pumpkin , cut-side down on a lightly greased baking pan.
Bake uncovered, for 30 minutes or until almost tender. Remove peel; cut baked pumpkin in to ¾ inch pieces.
In a large mixing bowl stir together milk, eggnog, eggs, sugar, vanilla and pumpkin pie spice. Sprinkle raisins on bottom of an ungreased 3 quart rectangular baking dish. Spread bread over raisins. Pour egg mixture evenly over bread. Carefully stir in cubed pumpkin.
Bake for 50 minutes or until pudding is puffy and a knife inserted near the center comes out clean. Cool pudding slightly. (pudding will fall in center) Drizzle with Warm Caramel Sauce. Makes 12 servings.
Warm Caramel Sauce: In a heavy sauce pan melt 10 vanilla caramel squares with ½ cup whipping cream over low heat, stirring constantly until smooth. Stir in ¼ teaspoon anise seed, crushed and ¼ teaspoon rum flavoring, if desired. Cool Slightly before serving.

1 large po-boy French bread (stale) cut into 2-inch cubes
1 cup raisins
1 large can Carnation milk
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 cups whole milk
3 large eggs, beaten
1 cup sugar
1 4-ounce box vanilla instant pudding mix
1 stick butter

Place bread cubes in a buttered 3-quart Pyrex dish. Bring Carnation and
whole milk to a boil. Remove from heat. Add butter and stir until melted. Add
raisins. In a small bowl mix eggs and sugar. Add vanilla and pudding mix. Stir
well. Add this to mixture. Pour over bread cubes. Let stand 10 minutes. Bake at
375 degrees until puffy and lightly browned. About 20-25 minutes. (Should be
moist.)

2 cans (5oz.each) Swanson Premium Chunk White Chicken
1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
1 can (4oz.) chopped green chilies (drained)
1 small onion, chopped
1 an enchilada sauce
8 corn tortillas
sour cream or avocados (opt.)

In medium bowl, combine chicken, 1 cup cheese, chilies, and onion. In bottom of baking dish, spread 1/2 can of enchilada sauce--set aside. Put about 1/3 cup of chicken mixture in softened tortillas, roll up, place in pan, cover with remaining sauce and cheese. Cover and bake at 350 degrees for about 25 minutes. top with sour cream or avocados.

By this time your cold will be gone, and you won't have to take the tonic. But you will be hungry. Eat the brownies.

hot sandwich for Dal.
use raw pizza dough
cook Italian sausage (hot or sweet)
saute onions, peppers and mushrooms.
Roll dough into an oblong shape.
place sausage mixture in center of dough
wrap and pinch. make a few air holes on top.
bake in 350 to 375 degree oven until bread is golden brown.
serve hot, cold or reheated

marie (02:30:55) : Baked Chicken Paprika
Serves 2 or 3

1 whole boneless Chicken Breast
8 oz. Sour Cream
2 Tbs. Lemon Juice
Paprika
Salt and Pepper to taste
Italian flavored Bread Crumbs

Blend sour cream and lemon juice in medium mixing
bowl. Add 5-8 shakes of paprika and stir until the
mixture is well colored.
Cut chicken into 4 pieces, or more. Add the chicken to
sour cream mixture and turn to coat. Cover and marinate
at least 8 hours. (For best results, you may prepare the
recipe the night before serving.)
Pre-heat oven to 375-F degrees.
Remove chicken from marinade and roll in Italian breadcrumbs mixed with salt and pepper until well coated.
Place the chicken in glass baking dish and bake for 35
-45 minutes, or until the top starts to brown. Serve warm.
