The second issue of Engineering Florida magazine is now available. It’s refreshing to see a magazine that delivers engaging, non-technical content while still being of immense value to the engineering community by bridging the gap between engineers, legislators, and other industry professionals! Kudos to ACEC for providing a platform that fosters collaboration, knowledge-sharing, and a deeper understanding of the vital role we play in shaping Florida’s infrastructure landscape. Looking forward to diving into the insightful articles in the second issue. #EngineeringFlorida #InfrastructureInsights #acec

In the ever-evolving field of engineering, staying current isn’t just a recommendation: It’s a necessity. And this maxim is true for the Professional Engineer (PE) exam, which has recently undergone a significant transformation. The Structural-Civil PE exam, in particular, has transitioned to a computer-based format, reshaping the testing experience and how engineers prepare for it. A year after this change, EVstudio Structural Engineer Emily Epstein explored the implications of this transition and how it’s changing the game for aspiring structural engineers.Head here to read Emily’s full article on how engineering students should approach these changes: https://lnkd.in/gZ5rkyKf

Our Capstone is finally finished! The capstone project is one of my favorite projects I worked on. This project combines all the skills we learned in our studies atCarleton University|Carleton Engineering And Design. I worked on it with 3 other electrical engineers -Davis MacAdam,Nader Ahmadi, and Keith Howie. Our team was able to get a working prototype to see our idea come to life. The capstone is introduced as a challenge in today's society. Our task is to come up with a solution that follows all the engineering guidelines and protocols. The challenge we choose to take on was to help quantify the pain pressure in sensitive parts of the body.Clinicians were using relic tools that were subject to delays, and sampling errors. This might have led to misdiagnoses when running important tests. Our solution improves the delays to virtual zero, provides a constant sampling rate, and allows clinicians to see the pressure-pain threshold. Here is a brief video describing our project. Enjoy!#team #design #engineering #video #university #society #engineers #electrical

Need more T-Line Design knowledge? Gonzaga has a fully online, 8-week course in T-Line Design - Introduction. This course is intended to teach students the basic process for designing an overhead transmission (or distribution) line and begins January 16.Course assignments begin with fundamental exercises to establish a line route. Next, an actual line design will be developed, and loads based on design criteria, standards, wire tensions, and weather inputs will be applied. Structure and foundation evaluations will then be performed from the load data. Once the structures and the foundations are evaluated, students will then spot (or locate) structures along the alignment. Finally, clearance analysis and other verifications of an acceptable line design will be performed and the resulting design artifacts will be produced to complete a simple construction package. Course assignments will involve the use of survey data, drawings, mathematical formulas, and manufacturers' data.#engineering #substation #electricutilities #powerdistribution #powerengineering #transmissionline #energy #steelstructures #projectmanagement #electricalengineering #civilengineering #transmission
