Faster, better handling, easier to ride and with an even angrier engine note, the 2013 Triumph Daytona 675 R takes the firm's super sport weapon to another level.
- Latest news: Triumph Daytona 660 fully unveiled for 2024
Launched alongside the standard Daytona 675, it was the first major update since the 675’s release in 2006 and every inch of the machine is different. The Daytona 675 is still the undisputed king of the 600 sports bikes, and is a brilliant used bike. It’s simply an epic machine.

Next up: Engine
5 out of 5 (5/5)
By moving the exhaust Triumph managed to make the Daytona 675R shorter, squatter and faster steering. Very few bikes handle as well as this out of the crate and even fewer are as easy to ride fast.
Here’s a machine that makes its rider look very, very good. This R model’s Öhlins suspension and Brembo brakes move the bike’s limit way above the average rider. Road holding is excellent, the ride quality plush and the bite from the brakes incredible. The ABS has a 'circuit' setting, which disables the rear ABS and lets you slide into corners.
Engine
Next up: Reliability
5 out of 5 (5/5)
A 126bhp three-cylinder 675cc short-stroke engine only makes 2bhp more than before, but it revs harder and is ripe for tuning. It has a new cylinder block, pistons, gudgeon pins, crankcase oil baffles, titanium inlet valves and gearbox. There are new twin-injector throttle bodies, ECU and a bigger central air intake running through the headstock.
A new slipper clutch has a two-way ramp for extra slip and grip on and off the throttle and lighter clutch springs. The exhaust is repositioned up and under the engine to aid weight distribution. The motor is less breathless than before in the midrange and high revs, but still has buckets of torque. It flies off corners and crucifies straights.

There’s a noticeable jump in quality over the 2011-2012 Daytona 675R, but some of the more hidden areas are built down to a price. The Daytona hasn’t been without its reliability problems along the way but on the whole it’s a very dependable machine. Our Triumph Daytona 675 R owners' reviews show nothing to worry about from a reliability perspective, though.

Next up: Equipment
5 out of 5 (5/5)
For the amount of performance you get, the Daytona 675R is excellent value for money and the cheaper, standard version even better. It’s easier to ride fast than a litre bike and better spec’d than a Suzuki GSX-R750 and Ducati 848, so it’s arguably one of the quickest A to B motorcycles you can buy.
They're also looking like fantastic used buys too, with 2021 prices showing early standard bikes now available for around £6000 and R models holding slightly higher values. Other used super sport 600s to consider also include the Honda CBR600RR, Suzuki GSX-R600, Yamaha R6, Kawasaki ZX-6R and MV Agusta F3 675 - the only other three-cylinder model in this line-up. All of these machines are no longer on sale in the UK.

Equipment
5 out of 5 (5/5)
Aside from the ABS and quickshifter, there aren’t any electronic rider aids, like traction control or variable power maps, but the Triumph is that easy to ride, it doesn’t need them.
There’s a multi-function LCD dash, adjustable swingarm pivot as well as the Ohlins and Brembos. The 675R comes with carbon fibre goodies. There’s also a wide range of official accessories including a race kit, for the first time.

Other versions
This particular bike was available as a standard Triumph Daytona 675 and more expensive, focussed Daytona 675R - available in a white, black and red livery. The base model featured slightly cheaper suspension components and lacks the R's blingy Brembo brakes.
Triumph resurrected the Daytona name in 2020 for a limited-run Daytona Moto2 765. The chassis was derived from the old 675, with more grunt on tap courtesy of a 765cc triple taken from the firm's Speed Triple naked. Just two lots of 765 were built - one batch for the US and Canada and another for the UK, Europe, Asia and the rest of the world.

5 out of 5 Triumph Daytona 675 - 2016 / LatinAmerica

Version: Normal

Engine 5 out of 5
Motor es una maravilla de la ingeniería
Reliability & build quality 5 out of 5
Value vs rivals 5 out of 5
En cambio de aceite de motor, filtros, mantención preventiva de cadena y transmisión, mas o menos el valor de arriba en la conversión a dólares
Equipment 4 out of 5
Creo que la simplicidad de esta moto también suma en lo buena que es.

Turning Circle at low speed is crap but overall fantastic bike
Ride quality & brakes 5 out of 5
The ride can be a bit hard but if you take your time to set the suspension up to your liking you will live it. The breaks are fantastic always there with lots of feedback from them..
Engine 5 out of 5
The engine gives you more than enough power for the roads in this country open or urban. Weather it's fine sunny days or rain it's all about managing the throttle yourself.

5 out of 5 The best British bike ever made

Phenomenal. I owned a 2009 Daytona before this and the lift in performance on what was already an excellent bike is incredible. I've now done 40,000kms on it and numerous track days. Fabulous. The combination of performance and light weight is unbeatable.

Best handling bike ever. My arms aren't strong enough to use the brakes to their maximum. Nor my nerves.
Engine 5 out of 5
Unbelievable engine. Thrash it continuously. It produces more power and more torque than the new 765RS. I has been rated by motorcycle reviewers as the best road engine ever. They are correct.
Reliability & build quality 4 out of 5
Got an oil leak from the balance shaft gasket. Has blown three main beam headlight bulbs. Chain and sprocket replacement. Now at 40,000kms its not running smoothly at low revs. However, its been thrashed on track......
Value vs rivals 4 out of 5
Basically excellent, but at 40,000 kms starting to feel a bit worn. That cost is in NZ$ and includes a new set of tyres annually.
Equipment 4 out of 5
Brilliant ABS. It doesn't need modes and has none. I'd prefer it had traction (one level) for wet roads. I'd also like an auto-blipper (downshifts). But this is minor. Its specced superbly.
Buying experience: Dealer. Superb.

Got my Daytona 675R 3 weeks ago, already done around 1000Km. The bike looks great, the details the quality of plastics, and the carbon fiber is amazing. The bike handling is fantastic and its so easy to ride and so much fun.The seat is a bit hard and becomes annoying on long rides, Already ordered the comfy seat:)All in all, its an amazing bike and a feast for the eyes :)
